アルテタの試合後コメント「I am very angry」

試合直後のアルテタのインタヴュー。AFC公式サイトより。

“First of all, congratulations to West Ham for the victory. We’re very disappointed with the result and as well the performance for the last period of the game because we really wanted it and showed that we really wanted it, and it becomes really difficult with 10 men.

“Today, we were not at the levels and standards that we have to hit to be much better than the opposition.”

“We have to go through the pain of defeat and a big part of the performance as well,” the boss added. “That’s what we’re going to need on Wednesday, to put in a different performance and win the game.

“Let’s go through the pain; let’s analyse, look at ourselves in the mirror and on Monday we go again.”

on the result:
Very disappointed, obviously very angry as well. I think we have to congratulate West Ham for the victory and the game that they played but I think a lot on our side we never got right. It didn’t allow us to get enough momentum, enough sequence of play with positive action that could deliver into situations of threat for there and even though all the ball we had, then 20 shots, I never felt that we were at the standards or the levels we needed to have more threat and then don’t allow them to run. We lost a lot of balls and we allowed West Ham to run into very dangerous positions.

on being angry:
We have to be. I hope we are very much because we didn’t hit the levels today and I’m very much responsible, and I am very angry.

on injuries having an impact on the team:
I refuse that completely because I am talking about the standards of the players and the team that we played today, me included 100%, were nowhere near the levels that we have to hit to have the opportunity to win a Premier League game today. We were very consistent, yes, but football is about what you do today and today, it was nowhere near.

on Ethan Nwaneri going off:
It was just fatigue, I think

on the lack of frontline options:
We have to look in the mirror at ourselves and what we can do better, the will and desire and the way we run and the way we want it, zero questions about that. But at this level it’s not enough, you have to deliver and it has to be a lot of quality to break a really good team down to win many more duels than we have done and put actions that can end up in really threatening moments for the positions to win the game, and we haven’t done it.

on what we’ll do between now and Forest:
First, we will suffer for 24-28 hours, and feel the pain and make sure that we come back on Monday with that bite and that anger instilled in us for Wednesday.

on how we play much better:
It’s my responsibility for the team to play much better than it did today. We have to play much better, with much more quality, much more interaction It’s not good enough, that’s on me.

on the team selection:
I would do the same thing, I would play the same players. But, when you lose, you get it wrong, the tactics, the intentions, everything, that’s what I felt. I have to do what I felt.

on the impact on the energy levels:
Hopefully it’s a positive one, because it’s already very negative what the result brings and the consequences to that, so hopefully very positive but to understand that we need to raise the level.

on if he saw that performance coming:
No, especially the way we trained all week, but this is football. Sometimes you see the warm-up and they’re flat, then the game starts and we are flying. I think the way the game started and how we presented the ball and giveaways, we never got there, but we have 70-80 minutes to work on that. We certainly tried but it wasn’t enough today.

on West Ham’s performance:
They see that we are not there and they start to have more belief and they have the opportunity to run one or two times, [Mohammed] Kudus get the ball, he gets you out of trouble when the situation is locked, he unlocks the situation then the spaces are open. You have to do that and then before half-time there’s a moment we have them, then suddenly they score a goal and it gives them more belief so, again, credit to them.

on the Premier League title race:
It’s not in our hands. For me, I’m really, really annoyed with the things that were in our hands that we didn’t do as well as we possibly could and that’s the performance.

on Lewis-Skelly red card:
I haven’t seen it back but honestly, I would focus on what we have to do. I don’t know if the decision was right or wrong, I haven’t seen it to evaluate it. But I think we should have done better today, it wasn’t enough.

on it being a learning curve for Myles:
I have to see the action back to evaluate it.

on the supporters:
I understand as well that we want it and we are trying so hard. We are against a lot of things and we had a great opportunity today and we didn’t deliver, I think that’s human. You ask me many times what is ideal and what that team needs and how we overcome certain deficiencies we have in the squad, and it is [the supporters] being in every single moment. That is my dream but I am not here to demand that of the crowd.

オーデガードの試合後コメント「It’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves」

AFC公式サイトより。

“We’re really disappointed. It felt like we had a good chance today but the overall performance wasn’t good enough and that’s a big blow for everyone.

“We tried even with 10 men, we put a lot of pressure on them, but I think we lacked a bit of efficiency in the final third, the final pass, the final cross and we should have been sharper and better around the box.

“I think that’s what we missed today and also, we let them run a bit too easily a few times, so it’s a big blow and disappointing. We move on and we have to strike back in the next one straight away.

“It’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves, we have to keep going. There are still many games to be played, and we have to keep going. The main thing now is to win the next one and work from there.

“(On White) It’s great to have him back. He’s been out for a while and you could see straight away the quality he brings. That was the good news today but at the moment we’re disappointed, but it’s good to have him back.”
