まるっきり予想していた通りの試合といおうか。Same old Arsenal. 結果は、0-0。

アーセナルは先週末のウェストハムのパフォーマンスとくらべても、けして悪くはなかったものの、試合に勝つには十分ではなかった。

これで、同じ時間の試合でニューカッスルに勝ったリヴァプールとの差は、13ポインツ。リヴァプールにとって、こんなに早く、こんなに楽なシーズンにしてしまうなんて。ついこないだまで、つぎうまくいけば5ポインツ差に迫れるかなんて云っていたのが、遠い昔のようだ。

アルテタの試合後コメント「サカとマルティネリはIB前までに戻らない」

試合直後のアルテタのインタヴュー。AFC公式サイトより。今回も訳す元気ない。ごめんね。

“It was very disappointing not to win after such a dominant performance. We did very well in many aspects of the game without really conceding anything. With all the territory and control we had in the final third, we should have found a way to win.

“We had a one-on-one chance that we didn’t score. In set pieces, I felt that was an area where we needed to be more efficient — to unlock the game, create more shots on target, and ultimately get the win. At the end of the day, when you dominate like this against these teams, you have to win the game.

“This team always gives you reasons to believe, to keep going. The frustration comes from knowing that when you control a game like this, you have to win it. But in this league, the margins are so small, and unfortunately, we didn’t find a way to score.”

“For many years, that (our defensive record) has not been a problem, but in order to win, you have to score goals. We need to find ways to convert more chances and get goals from different areas of the pitch. That’s something we certainly need to improve.”

“Stay with them. They’re an absolute joy to work with. They feel stretched, they feel like they are giving everything they possibly can. The way they behave and the way they want it. So be with them, because that’s what we all need right now.”

“We are very much looking forward to it,” the boss added. “It’s a competition we’ve performed tremendously well in this season. We fought hard to get into this position, and now, as we enter the knockout stages, the building starts now.”

On his thoughts on the game…

Very disappointing not to win it. Today, the standards were very different to the previous game; the energy, the willingness to make things happened. We certainly tried many different ways, we dominated the game apart from one spell in the second half after one or two direct free-kicks where they had something in the box and one or two giveaways that allowed them to run, apart from that nothing. With the amount of situations we generated, with the moments we opened them up, we lacked the final pass, the quality on that delivery and certainly more shots on target to actually win it and be more efficient.

On the challenge to find the system to score goals…

We tried and adapting the quality that we have, how we can help the team to create different things, to have threats from different qualities, probably they are not about arriving in the box and creating some magic moments, they are other kind of players. Try to adapt to that and do the best that we can.

On our set-pieces…

We have two big chances I think, from there and we generated at least much more but it’s true that it has to go in the net and it’s been so helpful, especially when we lost so much threat in the attacking options that we have. Set-pieces have been a key element of that and especially against a team that defends inside with such a low block, we couldn’t open it up even with that and very disappointed.

On how we can solve the goalscoring situation…

We have another day or two now to think before the PSV game, all the options that we have especially against a team that is in a low block. Even if they will arrive, if they will open up, if the opponent will be much better than us then I will probably be in a different state, I know that what’s lacking is that piece up there and I just said, there’s a lot to play for and we need to find the solution to unlock it.

On the Riccardo Calafiori substitution…

I took him because he got a yellow in the second minute. He had one or two situations defending Hudson-Odoi and we couldn’t not play again with 10 men.

On Ethan Nwaneri coming off…

He was cramping from minute 45, so we stretched him as much as we possibly could but we cannot lose the player and he was really fatigued.

On if more academy players will be involved going forward…

We will think about that, I think we have many more options still to explore but as well, we can certainly do better with the situation that we are in, especially unlocking certain moments, the final pass, the quality on the deliveries, the consistency after sustained attacks. We have to insist, they give me reason to insist and support them the best that we all can.

On keeping spirits up in the widening gap to Liverpool…

It’s about what we can do, and it was like this a week ago, two weeks before, three months ago. That’s the only thing that we can control if we want to have a reach chance to do anything. Today we dropped two points, which is very painful again and we have to step up – we have the Champions League, we have a beautiful competition in front of us and we have to ready for Tuesday.

On Raheem Sterling’s performance…

I wouldn’t like to personally talk about my players because they’re all trying their best for sure.

On Declan Rice and Gabriel arguing at the end…

I don’t know, I haven’t seen it. I walked to the referees and our supporters, and didn’t see anything.

On if it’s good to have frustration…

They’re probably demanding each other – I really don’t know the topic that they discussed.

On getting players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli back soon…

I don’t think so.

On if they will be back for Fulham after the international break…

I think so but again let’s see how they evolve in the next few weeks to make the right steps and then after that, they’ve been out for a long, long time, so we’re going to have to integrate them as well gradually. They are evolving well but they’re still a bit far.

On not rushing them back…

We have a meeting tomorrow to discuss where they are, especially Gabi, who probably has a chance before Bukayo to come in, but how soon that is, we’ll have to see how it evolves in the next week or 10 days.

「サカとマルチネリはIB前に復帰できると思わない」。つぎのIBは3月17日からの2週で、IB開け最初の試合は、4月2日のPLフラム（H）。そこが復帰のターゲットか。

つまり、それまでにある試合、CL PSV（A）、PLマンU（A）、CL PSV（H）、PLチェルシー（H）の4試合は、このチームのまま。大丈夫なのかねえ。

“Yeah, a frustrating draw because we wanted to win.  We pushed as much as we could, we had the chances, we didn’t win and that’s the frustrating part. And then you need to also look and be realistic that this is a tough place to come and win. I think only two teams came here and won and we could have been one of them.

“We controlled the game, they didn’t create anything really dangerous, they only had counter-attacks and I think we deserved to win, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen.”

“We need to keep pushing, we need to keep going.  We need to find the solutions to score, to create more chances in the box, more shots. Everyone needs to step up and do a bit more for the team.

“The willingness of the team is huge and you can see how hard everyone tries and for sure we are going to carry on that way.”
