ロウロ：もしキミがサム・アラダイスだったら、リーズにずたずたにされたあと、ウェスト・ブロムの選手たちになんと声をかけるか？

アラダイスはリヴァプールでの素晴らしいドロウのあとには思い切り選手たちを称賛したことだろう。だが、ミドウィークのビエルサのチームに対してはシッチャカメッチャカだった。

今回も同じ戦略で「われわれは1ポイント取ってスタートできた。1ポイント取れるなら満足だ」と云うのか。

わたしにはそのプランがアーセナルに通用するとは思えない。

ガナーズはクリスマスまではひどかったが、ここ2試合に勝っている。いいプレイをし始めたんだ。彼らはここでいとも簡単に勝ちを続けられるかもしれない。

この試合のあと、彼らはホームでクリスタル・パレスとニューカッスル、FAカップではマグパイズをホストする。どのフィクスチャも勝ちが見えるようだ。

期待していいのかな？

試合のみどころ

この連勝した2試合を振り返ると、じつは不安のほうが大きかったりする。

WBAがチェルシーとブライトンのどちらに近いかといえば、当然後者だろう。攻撃よりも守備を重視するような相手は、もちろん守りのオーガナイズがしっかりあると思ったほうがよい。

そして、今シーズンのわれらがもっとも苦しむタイプの相手はそういうチームだ。

ここで問われるのは、攻撃のクリエイティヴィティ。あるいは、効果的なビルドアップ。ブライトンの前半に起きたような信じられないような消極性をまたここで見せるようなら、ビッグトラブルに陥る。

ピッチの中央でプレイする勇気。個人的にはそこがみどころである。

それとオバメヤンの再生。彼に復活してもらわねばもうどうにもならない。巨額契約後に著しくフォームが落ちていることからちまたでは「エジルシンドローム」などと云われているが、同じ過ちを繰り返してはいけない。とにかく彼にたくさんシュートを打たせること。チャンスのときにいつも正しい場所にいること。それをやらないと。

この試合を終えると、ひさびさに一週間あく。全力のハードワークを期待したい。

あと、この試合で勝つと、今月末のマンUまで3試合がミッドテイボーとホームで戦えるということで、なんと6連勝が見えてくるのである。取らぬ狸のなんとやらだが。ここでの勝利は非常に意味がある。
